Job Description

ICRISAT invites applications from Indian Nationals for Technical Associate position to support Technical & Administrative work within GEMS team - Innovation Systems for the Drylands. This position is based at ICRISAT Headquarters in Patancheru, Hyderabad, Telangana. This position reports to Scientist-In-Charge in a multiple projects from Crop Production Systems of Semi-Arid Tropics carried out in multi-lateral collaborations.

Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to GEMS team;
Coordinate activities related to preparation of purchase orders, archival reports, progress reports, travel expense reports etc.
Inter-departmental liaising for smooth operations with various departments in ICRISAT;
Maintenance of the clear records of above mentioned activities
Coordinate and organize of internal and external meetings (Visitors, programs, seminars and workshops) and take follow-up actions
Perform additional duties as and when required by the supervisors

Laboratory maintenance;
Maintenance of stock of stationaries and commonly used materials in field, greenhouse and Hi-Throughput Platform and ensuring the accessibility to all team members.
Maintenance of equipment log-books, managing equipment servicing
Lab cleanliness and hygienic maintenance within reasonable accordance with the type of our work
Barcoding/RFID chips of equipment to ease their location/maintenance
Manage routine work in coordination with scientific officer and technicians regarding the labor requirements, over-see their effective work engagement and activity distribution
Labor recruitment and management
Seed stock maintenance, requests and coordination with breeding groups for seed exchange
Barcode printing, validation, help with usage of barcodes in and out of laboratory
On a need basis/urgencies, the personnel shall be able to assist with organization, logistics and support with large experimental tasks (e.g. Hi-Throughput platform & field sowing, data collection etc.). Person should follow the work-guiding principles and standard protocol, also the GEMS team is open for suggestions, ideas for improvement

Essential criteria:

A BSc graduate in any subject. Knowledge, experience and interest in plants/ crops are advantage.
Candidate has to be extremely skilled team-player as she/he will be the centre of all team interactions and has to facilitate its smooth progress
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Basic Computer skills (MS-Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong organization skills, punctuality, independence, and pro-activeness are essential


General:

This is a Locally Recruited Staff position for three years renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institutes continuing need for the position.
