ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian Nationals for the post of Junior Research Fellow: Spatial Analytics of Innovation Systems for the Drylands program to be based at ICRISAT - Patancheru, India.

The Systems Analysis for Climate Smart Agriculture (SACSA) Theme under the research program Innovation Systems for the Drylands (ISD) is currently recruiting for a Junior Research Fellow to support implementation of research activities aimed at improving the impact of climate information services to smallholder farmers. This work is part of the project Climate services for better risk management and build resilience of smallholder farmers in the highly vulnerable rainfed areas of India supported by Monsoon Mission II as part of MOES initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Use proprietary and open source GIS to manage and analyze spatial climate data from various sources
Strong skills in programming with R, python to assemble historical data on crop and weather from various sources and formatting in the required formats for input into crop models and GIS platforms
Scripting for time series analysis in a GIS environment and/or R

Essential criteria:
M.Tech in Remote Sensing /Geo-informatics or related field
Well versed in creating informative cartographic outputs using GIS
Skills in spatial data collection, organizing/formatting data and basic analysis
Good knowledge of spatial modelling of environmental data
Understanding of crop or climate simulation models and their input data formats
Excellence in English (both spoken and written)

General:

This is a Consolidated (CON) position for three years renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institutes continuing need for the position.
